CERVANTES: AN INVITATION

22 April 2016 will mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes, Spain's greatest literary genius, who happened to die within eleven days of William Shakespeare.

To mark this special occasion, I will be giving an illustrated presentation in the Auckland Central Library entitled "Don Quixote and the English Imagination", in which I first examine what the great appeal of "Don Quixote" itself is, and then examine how often it has been imitated, parodied or used as a source of inspiration by English writers, from Shakespeare to Graham Greene.

Beginning at 5:30 pm, Friday 22 April, Central Auckland Library.
